Let's see how far we've come

A friend of mine recently came back from China. She was sharing how she was part of a studio audience for an English debate show called Outlook English. Her photos and experiences were quite fascinating. She shared about how military propaganda kept rolling on the studio monitors during the show's taping. Her photos and account reminded me of the creepily awesome 1984 Apple Macintosh Superbowl Ad.

Thanks to the greatness of YouTube, I was able to catch up with other vintage Apple footage... Steve Jobs introducing the Macintosh that January of 1984. He -and the Macintosh- were quite revolutionary with their huge, creative edge such as font and size options in such a tiny package. Listen to the audience ooh and ahh!

Not too shabby for a man who dropped out of Reed College and audited a calligraphy class.

Never trust a computer you can't lift.
